Rescue Me ID: 15-04-27-00438Axle (male)

Rottweiler    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

Axle is a very sweet and friendly dog!The vet and myself believe he is a pure bred American Rotti!! I do not have papers! I am having a major surgery on my rt shoulder within the next 2-3 weeks. I live with my 73 yr old Mother and younger brother and they just can't take care of him. I will be in a sling for 6 weeks and have physical therapy for 8-9 months. Axle has separation anxiety issues and needs someone that can work with him or hire a trainer that can! He is strictly an indoor dog and is housebroken extremely well and has been obedience trained extremely well. I just don't have all the details of his background. I rescued him from a ... (Read More)lady that said he didn't like her new husband and the husband said she had gotten 2 small Chihuahuas and Axle went outside to a small 6 x 6 pen and a large igloo type dog house. I've had him about a yr and a half now but have not had time to work with him. My daughter's step sister had a terminal cancer and she was her primary care giver so I have been taking care of my grandchildren while she was with her step sister. When left outside for any length of time now Axle paces from the back door to the gate! When I first saw him he had a trail worn at the front of the pen!! The lady called me many times a day for 3 days after I went to see him and finally called and said they were coming to Birmingham and could she bring him to me. I couldn't refuse then. She said she would email all his vet info etc but never did and I couldn't reach her. She had said he was between 2-3 yrs old and he weighed about 45 lbs. It was soon very apparent he was a much younger dog and has reached about 80 lbs now. He's too large for our very small home. And he loves people so much!! He deserves a good home with someone. who can help him through his anxiety!! He does not heel well on a leash but off lead works like a champ. He shakes with his rt paw and high fives with the left. He's a big goofy silly playful dog as well. I have many other pictures if your interested and I'm willing to meet you if you would like to see him!! If someone doesn't take him by the date of my surgery I will have to take him to the Humane Society and I'm afraid his anxiety problems will make him an unlikely candidate for adoption!!! I am just not willing to accept that fate for him!! Please contact me if you can give Axle the attention he needs!!! Proceeds to be donated to a Rotti Rescue Group and will update with my surgery date and the Rescue Group I choose as soon as I can!!! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Rottweiler in Alabama
Rottweiler Dogs can make good pets in Alabama if they match your IifestyIe. The Rottweiler is a large breed herding and guard dog. Rottweilers are very stable and brave. This breed needs a firm, experienced handler from the very beginning. Rottweilers can be good family pets that are trustworthy with children and other pets if they are trained and socialized from an early age. If a Rottweiler is not treated properly it can become aggressive. Rottweilers need plenty of exercise and can run in open country without a leash. Rottweilers can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard if they get enough exercise.
