Someone abandoned this precious dog at the dump near my home. We fed him a few days before he let us take him home. He was so thin. He had 2 ear infections and an infected pad on one of his feet. He is now on antibiotics and feeling much better. After a good bath is coat is very shiny. He is so loving and sweet. He is house trained and good with other dogs. He is such a great dog that I hate to give him up, but we are not able to have another dog. We do not have a fenced in yard and we live in a sub division.

Animal ID: 417679Smoke (male)

Rottweiler Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Smoke is a very agreeable young dog. I recently gave him a bath and he was totally accommodating...very laid back and cooperative. He is a sweet boy with no sign of dominance...just friendly and playful. Animals at this shelter are held a reasonable amount of time so at the time of posting it is adoptable and not in immediate danger. However, the time period is limited depending upon the shelter population. Please note: THE SHELTER IS FULL. If you are interested in adopting, some of the rates are reduced for the larger dogs or animals that have been in the shelter over a month. If you are interested in fostering, the need is great and we ... (Read More)would love to have you. If you are interested in adopting me: 1) Write down my Animal ID # . 2) Make sure to mention Animal ID # when visiting or calling. 3) Remember all adoptions stop 30 minutes prior to closing time. 3) You will not be allowed to place a hold on me. 4) I cannot be shipped to you. 5) Before adopting me, you can spend time with me outside or in a meet and greet room. Please ask for assistance. 6) We take cash, checks, debit cards, VISA and Mastercard as a method of payment. **IMPORTANT: Huntsville Animal Services cannot guarantee that I will still be available for adoption as we do not hold animals for anyone under any circumstances. Animals are adopted on a first come, first serve basis. You may want to call and ask if I am still available prior to visiting the shelter. When you adopt me, I will stay at the shelter and be taken to the veterinarian of your choice where I will be spayed or neutered before going to my new home. If I am already spayed or neutered, I can go home with you upon adoption. My adoption cost is very affordable and includes my adoption fee, spay/neuter, vaccinations, deworming, license (if you live within Huntsville city limits), a collar and personalized ID tag. Please know that a high percentage of animals in the shelter are brought in as strays. It is impossible to know anything about a stray animal and many times we can only make our best educated guess on breeds, age, etc. Every animal you see posted here has passed a general temperament test as performed by shelter staff and it is considered to be non-aggressive. ADOPTION FEES Dogs: $83 - includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, rabies voucher, deworming, *heart worm and flea/tick prevention Cats: $73 - includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, feline aids/leukemia testing, rabies voucher, deworming, *heart worm and flea/tick prevention LICENSE FEES $10 - 1 year license $35 - Lifetime license EVERY ADOPTER RESIDING IN THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, AL WILL BE REQUIRED TO PURCHASE ONE OF THE ABOVE LICENSE OPTIONS AT TIME OF ADOPTION OPTIONAL SERVICES $10 - Heartworm test. Blood test known as the 'snap test' that shows when heart worm antigens are present in the blood. $20 - Microchip. Another line of defense to help you get your pet back in the event he/she is lost. This is especially recommended for those pets known to climb fences, chew collars/tags, etc. 'Pit bull mixes': Pit bull mixes get a bad rap. First of all, the American Pit bull is different from other bull dog breeds and yet they are typically lumped together. Many are actually American bulldogs, American Staffordshire terriers, boxer mixes, etc. And what percentage of pit bull traits gets a dog declared to be pit bull over whatever other breed he might be mixed with? But more importantly, the pit bull is more typically sweet natured and mellow (despite requiring regular exercise) when trained and handled correctly. Please do not be turned off if a dog that appeals to you is labeled 'pit bull mix'. Come meet it. You will probably be pleasantly surprised and may consider adopting one of the most difficult dogs to find a home for, due to no fault of its own. (Less)

Rottweiler    Age: Adult

Personality: High Energy

Rotti Needs New Home (Hoover, AL) Solomon is a loving dog and has lived both in and outside the home. He is a 7 yr. old very loyal and loveable dog. I would love to keep him, but I have moved and have no space for him. Solomon is a family friendly pet, but is not fond of cats. The most ideal home for Solomon is probably him being an only male dog in the home. This particular breed is extremely loyal and protective. He loves to play, so if you have a large fenced in yard he's for you. Serious Inquiries only! Please.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Rottweiler in Alabama
Rottweiler Dogs can make good pets in Alabama if they match your IifestyIe. The Rottweiler is a large breed herding and guard dog. Rottweilers are very stable and brave. This breed needs a firm, experienced handler from the very beginning. Rottweilers can be good family pets that are trustworthy with children and other pets if they are trained and socialized from an early age. If a Rottweiler is not treated properly it can become aggressive. Rottweilers need plenty of exercise and can run in open country without a leash. Rottweilers can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard if they get enough exercise.
