Rescue Me ID: 17-05-05-00490Savannah (female)

Rottweiler    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Male Dogs Only, Not Good with Cats
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Savannah came to us from Sierra vista animal control. She was found running in the desert, and after nobody claimed her, they transferred her to us. She stayed with one of the officers at her house, who had Many animals. Her stay was short and she didn't get to mingle with all of them, but she did meet some small dogs and liked them just fine. We put her in a foster home who also has a small dog and a cat. She isn't good with the cat, so they keep them separated by a baby gate, but after a day she was good with the little dog and now they play a lot. Savannah is between 1 and 2 years old we believe. She is potty trained and knows some basic ... (Read More)commands. I is not destructive and listens well to her foster mom. She is happy to meet new people, but can be reactive on a leash to other dogs she may see. We believe if she is introduced properly, she would do well with any dog of any size. Because she is a purebred female rottweiler we prefer that she be placed in a home with only male dogs. She would be fine as an only dog too. She is a confident dog, who is fearless and if it came down to it, I have no doubt would be protective if needed. Like any dog, She could benefit from obedience school. If for no other reason than for you to build a bond with your dog and show her leadership. Savannah always has a smile to share with you, loves belly rubs and playing in the yard. She is an inside dog, as are all of our Rottweilers. She is also crate trained. She is up to date on her shots, spayed, microchipped and heartworm tested negative. Looking for her forever home now!! If you are interested in meeting Savannah, please fill out our adoption questionnaire located under the forms tab on www.rottenrottie.com we will be in touch shortly after to arrange a meet and greet. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-29-00183Mercy (female)

Rottweiler    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mercy was rescued from the euthanasia list at MCACC. She had been attacked by another dog that she lived with and the owner surrendered both of them because she didn't want to deal with another fight, I guess. Currently Mercy lives with a male dog and the two adore each other. They sleep together, eat together, and follow each other around the house all day long. She is good with him. The other dog that attacked her was a female rottie/shepherd mix. I don't think it would be smart to place her in a home with another female dog, but she can hang with a friendly male for sure. We do not know if she has any experience with cats or kids. She is ... (Read More)a little shy when you first meet her, but does warm up quickly. She walks fabulous on a flat collar, knows her obedience commands, is potty trained and is not destructive at all. She is a really good girl and any family would be lucky to have her. She is approximately 5 years old. Mellow girl. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-29-00165Emily (female)

Rottweiler    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Emily is a female adult rottie whose age is unknown. We believe that she is probably aboitb3 years old or so. A family found her last winter running in the desert, and brought her home. She was nothing but skin and bones back then. Emaciated to the extreme. You could easily count every vertebrae. The family that found her, didn't want her in the house because she had s couple of ticks on her. This was dead of winter with temps dropping below 30 degrees at night. Try had her sleeping in a crate on their patio with some blankets piled on to of it. With not an once of fat on her body she became sick with pneumonia. When we were asked to take ... (Read More)her into our rescue, they had just taken her to their very who had diagnosed her as a diabetic. They did not want to deal with that and surrendered her to us. It's been a long road to her Emily where she is today. She is as healthy as anyone can expect a diabetic to be. Her numbers are within a good rage and she is now close to a normal weight for a healthy rottie. Her foster mom is god sent and does a fabulous job making sure that Emily gets her insulin shots twice a day . I ask her to write about how it is live with Emiy and this is what she said. Emily Gorgeous Classic Rottie - BEAUTIFUL Rottie face and build and VERY, VERY loving!! Her special needs do NOT limit her ability to enjoy life to the FULLEST . . she is not shy or limited in ANY way, shape or form. She is truly one of the BEST, EASIEST and MOST LOVING fosters I have had in my 10+ years of being involved in rescue. Again, Em not only LOVES her people, but she LOVES her toys, is SUPER-DUPER smart, well-behaved, trusting, adorable, silly (loves the semi-deflated basketball and is a HOOT to watch as she bats it around and chases it), has a kennel full of toys. she not the best at sharing since she can't see all that well, so her play time with toys is structured, she's a little too zealous with her rawhides and gags herself therefore those are a 'no-no', her favorite toys are ones that squeak or move a bit but she's really not picky at all . . she truly does LOVE all toys J . . she doesn't tear up her toys or bedding but again she really is a bit of a toy hoarder so you can usually find most (if not all of her toys) tucked away in her kennel J. In typical Rottie fashion she needs to be the queen of the household so no other females . . .she does get along well with the males in our household but when they are playing rough I keep her separated since she can't see well and it's not fair for her to get 'ambushed' when they are engaging in their typical play behavior - She would do fine as an only dog too. . .. she is a good guard dog and will alert you if someone is approaching you or your residence that she is not familiar with. She REALLY gets around quite well so it leads me to believe she can at least see shadow, if not more. She LOVES, LOVES, LOVES her walks and will sleep quietly at your feet while you watch TV and/or work on your pc. She is ok being left on her own as long as she has access to a doggie door. She would NEVER, EVER, EVER pottie in the house, her kennel or her sleeping area and she is extremely good at finding a way to let herself out if needed and then back in as well. Again, she does listen really well and her main goals in life are to love, be loved and to please her pet parents . everything else (even toys, walks and belly rubs) are secondary to those 3 things in her life (Less)

Rottweiler Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Roscoe is a very big, sturdy boy full of energy and happiness! This big boy's tail never stops wagging, and there is no such thing as too much fun for Roscoe. He is about 2 years old and super friendly, very active, looking for a friend to run or hike or play with all day long! Roscoe is a bit naughty and will jump fences, so we recommend a home where he will be walked for bathroom breaks or monitored every time he is in the yard while he is trained to stay home, but above all he is a very smart dog, and very willing to learn for anyone willing to work with him. Thanks to our generous donors, Roscoe is in Lorenzo Boarding/Training behavior ... (Read More)modification program which will teach him everything from basic manners to learning to accept new people & other dogs more openly. We are hoping that by the time he graduates he will have a FOREVER FAMILY or FOSTER waiting for him. With Roscoe's adoption, Lorenzo's Dog Training Team has offered 3 free handling sessions. AZ Small Dog Rescue is so grateful that Roscoe had this opportunity. He is becoming a very behaved boy!! He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, chipped, vet checked, licensed, comes with 30 days of free pet insurance, and comes with a free vet visit. His adoption fee is $80. Rottweiler    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Junior just turned a year old and has barely had anyone invest the time he needed them to, for training. So his new owner will have a little bit of a challenge. He needs work in all areas of his obedience training, however he is smart and motivated and catches on quickly. He is housebroken and crate trained. If I didn't know better I would say this boy has springs for feet. He catches a lot of air when he plays ball with you! If you have been looking for a young dog who would go through agility training, this boy has champion written all over him! Junior plays well with most dogs. He is a sensitive boy who does not tolerate being over ... (Read More)corrected. He would do best in a home with children over the age of 12 or no kids at all. He is just begging to learn everything you want to teach him! If you have extra time on your hands, this boy has the potential to be the most amazing dog you have ever owned!!! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-17-00489Leo (male)

Rottweiler    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Leo is a handsome boy who is a bit nervous at times. He needs a strong confident leader to show him the way. He recently spent the day having the best time with a 10 week old rottie puppy, but he doesn't seem to like dogs his own size. He needs to be socialized with other dogs a lot more. Until that happens he needs to be the only big dog in the house. Leo lives with a cat in his foster home. I can't say that he is awesome with the cat, but I will say that he is learning that the cat is off limits and has become uninteresting to him most of the tie. Hehas not tried to attack the cat, but we do not trust them alone together either. He has his ... (Read More)obedience commands down well, he even gives paw. He is not destructive and once he binds with you, you become his world. He is very handsome boy who will melt your heart when you meet him! Leo has tested positive for heartworms, but thank goodness we caught it at the beginning stages before very many worms developed. His treatment is cheap and easy. He just needs to be tested every six moths until he is cleared. He takes his heartguard each month which will prevent any new worms from being born, and we basically just need to wait it out until the coupleof adult worms that are in there die off naturally. We have had about 7 rotties tested positive in the past year. We routinely test all of our dogs for heartworms. We had one very special dog that we did not catch in time and he died a week after his diagnoses. Since he passed, we have tested all our dogs and the other dogs that tested positive we treated in the same manner as Leo and they all tested negative within 6 months. I have every reason to believe that Leo will too. It should not deter you from giving him a happy home. He will be just fine. (Less)

Buddy is a handsome 3 year old cattle dog/rottie mix Buddy is fully of life and sure to make you laugh with his goofy personality. Buddy loves people, loves to run in the yard and play fetch. He is very smart and always eager to learn. Just like most cattle dogs, Buddy would love to have a family that would enjoy for him to accompany them on walks or hikes, to keep him busy and give him a "job". This handsome guy does need to be the only pet in the family (no cats) and would enjoy an older little human to keep him company (8 years +). Buddy is house and kennel trained. Buddy will do best in a home that is familiar with the ... (Read More)'cattle dog type' breed, will promise to keep up with his learning and make him part of the day to day routine. Rescue Me ID: 16-10-01-00017Skye (female)

Rottweiler    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Skye (AKA Big Mama) is a spayed, happy, sweet, butt wiggling big girl. I believe she may be around 6 years old. She's content to just lay around with her favorite toy, a ChuckIt! ball that she always has with her. She loves belly rubs and walks. (She could use more walks, to drop some pounds) If she wants your attention she has been known to take your arm in her mouth, very gently, and move it to her. She loves water. She will play in a kiddie pool as well as her water bowl. She was adopted from the Apache Junction Paws & Claws Care center in 2013. She was found as a stray weighing only 54lbs! She has definitely made up for the lack of ... (Read More)weight. She has been living with 6 other dogs, 2 females & 4 males, ranging from 15lbs to 40lbs, and a house with 3 women. She is the dominate dog of the house and will defend that title. Out of the other dogs, she has had no issues with any expect one, one other dominate female. She is a much smaller dog and has suffered serious repercussions of challenging her. This is no way makes Skye a violent dog. I believe she would do best in a house with either a male or non dominate dog. She would have no problem being an only dog either. She has never chewed or destroyed anything other than stuffed animals. She has no problem being home alone and is doggie door trained. She does have a crate, but has never been crated for an extended period of time. She is protective of her family. I have found it's best to keep her away from the door and held until she meets guests. She has given two men warning nips when they walked into the home unannounced. Once she is allowed to sniff and give her approval they'll be her new friend. She has no exposure with children under 13 or cats while I have had her. (Less)
