Rescue Me ID: 15-02-14-00328Savannah (female)

Rottweiler    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed

Savannah is a purebred Mexican rottie. You can tell by looking at her, that she has had a very rough life living on the streets of Mexico. One Saturday we got an email from a fellow rescue asking us if we could help save a rottie who had been deserted and left chained to a fence in Nogales, Mexico. She had been chained there for many days and people would just pass her by offering nothing for her to eat and drink and she was pregnant. The officials in Mexico made an announcement that if nobody took the dog in by the upcoming Monday, then they would kill her because they were not going to watch her starve to death chained to a fence. It was ... (Read More)evident that she probably would have starved to death within the next couple of days anyway. She was a skeleton with a little belly. Every rib bone could be counted from 20 feet away. Her collar bones stuck out, her pelvis was seen plain as day. Every vertebra stuck out. It was painful to look at a dog in such condition. On top of it, it was the dead of winter and was very cold at night there. So we agreed to take this mom in and help her the best that we could. A volunteer drove to get her on Sunday morning and she was delivered to us around 6pm on Sunday night. She was filthy dirty, so I immediately fed her and gave her a bath, and fed her again. I put her in our climate controlled outside kennel so that she could get a good nights rest. Every 3 or 4 hours. I fed her again. At 3am I went to take her more food and she had given birth to four puppies, and sadly one of them was dead. The next day, we moved her and her puppies into a foster home where they are today. That was on January 14th. She will be able to be spayed and adopted at the beginning of March. Her puppies can go to their new home when they are 8 weeks old. Savannah is a sweet dog but does show some food aggression and who could blame her. She is also protective of her puppies (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-14-00327Aladdin (male)

Rottweiler Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Aladdin was saved from the euthanasia list at MCACC (county dog pound) our director went to meet him on the first day he was on the list. She fell in love with him. He was very friendly and happy to meet her. However, we are a rottweiler rescue and we focus our efforts on saving purebred rottweilers only. Aladdin was not a purebred. He is too short/small to be a purebred, so we made the tough decision to pass on him. Normally county only gives them one or two days on the Euthanasia list before they carry out the threat. However 6 days later he was still alive! Knowing that there was about a 95% chance they would kill him, and he was out of ... (Read More)time to find another rescue, I went to bed that night. At 4:30am I woke up and was wide awake, laying there and watching the minutes tick by and couldn't think of anything more than Aladdin. They kill them at 5am at the pound and the whole scenario played through my head and I knew in less then 15 minutes, a worker would come for him and leash him up to walk him down the hallway to his death. I couldn't stand the thought, so I make a phone call and asked the kennel supervisor to hold him from the slaughter because I was coming to get him, and I did. He isn't the best with other dogs, but is living with a female rottie now and they are tolerating each other fine. He needs some work with his basic obedience but his foster family has been working with him every day and have seen great improvement. He needs some work. He is a diamond in the rough, waiting for a special family to give him a chance and make him theirs. His adoption fee is only $150.that includes his neuter, shots and microchip. He will come with a collar and a leash. He will melt your heart. Please give Aladdin a chance. You won't regret it. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-14-00322Artie (male)

Rottweiler    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Artie is kind of a nervous guy, not to be confused with fearful. He seems to either love you or hate you, and in either case doesn't really like to kiss on the first date. If he hates you it's usually short lived and learns to love fairly quickly. Usually once he knows that you are are in charge and knows that you are the one who will be feeding him. He has been professionally remote collar trained on low levels to remind him to mind his manners and also to release some of his stress and nervousness with new people and new animals. His new owner will get free training on the proper way to use the remote collar on him if they desire. We will ... (Read More)also include a remote collar in his adoption fee, if his new owner is willing to have an open mind and learn this new way of training. There is no pain involved in the training.! In fact, Artie is very sensitive to the collar and works on levels so low that you or I can not even feel it if we were to put the collar up to our skin on the same level. Artie in indifferent with new dogs. He either tolerates them or he just doesn't like them at all. If he doesn't like them, it is possible that he will fight. He has been in one fight since he has been in our rescue. The fight was not completely his fault and the other dog hated him back and was ready to rumble. Artie lost the fight. Artie does not do well with cats. I don't suggest he live in a home with children or in a home that has a lot of traffic in and out with many new people. So you are probably asking yourself, why on earth would anyone want Artie if he is difficult to get a long with. Well, maybe knowing that anyone who has given him a week for him to grow on them, has fallen in love with him. After you can get past the initial 2 weeks for him to learn to trust you, he really is an amazing dog. He is well behaved. Listens to what you tell him, is playful and pretty cuddly too. He doesn't destroy stuff. He is completely crate trained and potty trained. You can send him to 'place' and he will hang out on place until you tell him that it is okay to break that command. He walks awesome on a leash. He is very protective of his people. And he will be your buddy forever. If you think that you may be a good match for this handsome boy, please fill out our questionnaire and return it to us. We will contact you and arrange a time for you to meet Artie in person. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-14-00320Pooh Bear (male)

Rottweiler    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Pooh Bear is a 14 month old purebred beautiful rottweiler who is extremely smart. He walks beautifully on a leash, sits when I stop walking and knows down and stay. He sits and waits for you to tell him that he has permission to eat his dinner. He sits and waits to go through doorways. He has learned all of this in about a month. His one bad habit that he has is when he sees me he gets so excited that he jumps on me. I am working on this with him and he is showing improvement. He is by himself most of the time unfortunately. He needs a foster or forever home asap so that seeing people isnt so exciting and maybe containing his energy will not ... (Read More)be so difficult when he is able to have human contact more often. He is sad and lonely and does want a family of his own. However he has been in fights with two other male rottweilers since he has come into rescue, so since then he has been separated from the other dogs, which means limited time around myself and my family. He will play bow to the other dogs from the other side of the fence and he used to live with a younger german shepherd that was his bff and they played and wrestled and had a good time. However, since I am home with the dogs by myself much of the time I do not want to take a chance for another fight to break out. I feel that he would probably do best as an only dog in a house with no children. If we were going to try to introduce him to another dog, I think it should be a female dog. He is very affectionate and loves going on walks with me. He walks in a perfect heal and I hold a loose leash. He has figured out that if he shakes his head just right somehow he can get the leash to release from his collar. Im not sure how he does it exactly but I walk with a back up leash on him now, just in case. He has done it about 4 times with 4 different leashes! We even walked up to staples and petco the other day and got an ice cream cone and a doggie yogurt and walked back. It was about 2 miles round trip and then he was tired. He was extremely behaved in public and made me very proud. Dont miss the video of him playing with the hose. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-12-14-00140Slim (male)

Rottweiler    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi my name is....my name is...(what) my name is... Slim Shady! I am a rottweiler puppy and the older I get the more handsome I become. About a year ago I was found as a stray wondering the streets of Phoenix when animal control took me in to their shelter. I was very very sick. I was so sick I couldn't even see. I was only about 3 months old at the time. As soon as I came in, the shelter called the rottweiler rescue and explained that I needed to be taken out of the shelter and get medical attention ASAP. So they came and got me and took me to see Dr Carr who ran some blood work and discovered that I have diabetes :-(. It's been a long road ... (Read More)in getting me healthy, but with the patience, care and attention of the most awesome foster mom I could ever ask for, I am happy to report that have never looked, smelled, felt better in my whole life!! The hard work is done. Now my continued care consists of two injections a day with a very small needle, and I'll be a trooper for you and won't even flinch. I need drops in my eyes twice a day and I need my blood sugar monitored 2 to 3 times a day or whenever I may seem like I'm not quite right. I have to eat 3x per day at the same time every day. So I need a family where someone is usually home morning, night and lunch. My rescue cares very much for me and would never expect you to adopt me and be on your own. They will continue to be involved in my care to answer any questions or help you figure things out, should my numbers start to slide out of range. So you see, you would have a whole network of people who will stand behind you as you learn how to care for me. In return I will be the most well behaved puppy you have ever met, and I will be by your side whenever you need me. My love for my peeps run deep. So if you are an extremely responsible person, who doesn't mind having to be home at the same time every morning and night to feed and give me my insulin, and wants a handsome new best friend, please contact the rescue. You won't regret it! In June I went to see Eye Care for Animals and they determined that I was a good candidate for surgery to have my vision restore. My surgery cost $5000 but it was worth it!!! I can see everything now. I never knew the world was so pretty! I need drops in my eyes everyday, Now that Slim can see he shows aggression to some dogs especially little dogs. Since he was blind he basically has not been socialized around other dogs until now. Slim went into a foster home with a cat and a dog and he was great with the dog before and after surgery, however after his surgery he attacked their cat. We had to place him in a different foster home and have since been working with him to get him over this aggression. Slim was professionally remote collar trained by dynamic dog training. They have offered to give his new owners a lesson on the correct way on how to work with slim on remote collar ($200 value) for free. Slim's medical expenses in average is more then a normal dog. His medical expenses run about $75 a month plus vet visits and blood work will be needed in addition. He is not a good choice for someone on a tight budget. click here to see a video made for slim https://cloud.real.com/s/ZQ8xbR (Less)

This breed needs a firm, experienced handler from the very beginning.
