Rescue Me ID: 18-01-12-00410Flower (female)

Rottweiler    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Flower came to us last summer. We pulled her off the euthanasia list at MCACC. She had a blown ACL and was extremely frightened of everybody. It took her about 3 days to learn to trust me enough to come just to my fingertips, give me a quick lick, and then back away. Over the next week she became more and more comfortable around me and would let me sit with her, and pet her. We had her ACL repaired with TPLO surgery (the best way to fix an ACL and it will never fail again) and then she went into foster care with a young woman who is a nurse and her 8 year old daughter. The woman cared for her through her recovery and adopted her. Flower ... (Read More)immediately took to the little girl. She loves that little girl like no other person she had ever met. I'm pretty certain that Flower had a very bad life before coming to us. Her owners were mean to her, hit her and abused her and neglected her and all she has ever hoped for was a little girl of her own and a family that cares, and now she finally had that dream come true. However, there has been one very important element missing in the relationship with her new family, and that is leadership, rules, and boundaries and they gave her too much affection. This has confused poor Flower and since there is no one at the house stepping into that position, she has decided to take it on herself. I'm sure she doesn't want the job, but after all she is a pack animal and without a leader she thinks her pack will die, so it's been up to her. You never ever want your Rottweiler to think it's the leader of the pack, that can only bring bad behavior. Flower has decided that her most valuable resource is this little girl. She does not want anything bad to happen to her so she protects her from everybody except her mom. Nobody else is allowed to enter her bedroom. She especially does not like it if a man or a boy gets too close to the girl and she has forbid them to show the little girl affection; Flower is not having that. I can only imagine what Flower must have seen in her past to not want the little girl's dad or grandpa to hug or kiss her! So she does what she can to stop that and has been nipping at any man that comes into the house or around the little girl. She is a little more lenient with women around her though. She has also made up some rules for Lucky, who is the other dog in the house. Lucky is not allowed to enter the kitchen while their mom is cooking (she wants to make sure that if anything is dropped that she is the only one that gets it). She will not allow Lucky to go out the back door, and she does not allow Lucky to go near the garbage can. So Flower's mom called me and said that she needs to return Flower to us because she can't have a dog who is so protective over her daughter and who is now becoming aggressive with her other dog. So after listening to what has been happening there, I realized that Flower has a few things that need to be straightened out before she can move on to another family. There is no better person to do that then Karen at Dynamic Dog Training Az. She is one of Arizona's very best Rottweiler trainers. She owns two of her own and knows the breed better than anyone. She is going to take her for a board and train until Jan 24th which is plenty of time to set Flower's head straight. We are hoping to find Flower's new family before the 24th so that Flower can start off with a clean slate and fresh start with Flower after they spend a couple of hours with Karen so that she can teach her new family what they must do to show Fower leadership and how she should be handled so that Flower can relax and be a dog. Can you imagine the burden she carries as the leader of the household right now? She does not want that at all, and she will be much happier as a dog. So this session with Karen is very important and her training is free to her new owners. Unfortunately, Karen is leaving town on the 24th for awhile and won't be able to have an in-person meeting with her new owner after the 24th. Please follow Karen's FB page or Rotten Rottie Rescue's FB page to get the latest updates on how Flower is progressing! Please fill out our adoption questionnaire located under the forms tab on www.rottenrottie.com if you are interested in Flower. Karen will not only straighten out Flower's head but she will also make Flower completely obedient and she will train Flower with a remote collar which will give her new owner's as much freedom with her as if she had a half mile leash. Please go to dynamicdogtrainingaz.com to learn more about Karen's training techniques and make sure you are on board with this type of training before you apply. I would hate to invest such time into training Flower and not have her new owners follow through with her training. Her training is completely free to her new owners but it will be required that you purchase an e-collar for her which is $170. Her adoption fee is $400. Now that's a deal. Flower's training is valued at $1700! Thanks. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-12-30-00011Scarlett (female)

Rottweiler    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Scarlett is a young female Rottweiler between 1-1.5 years old. She currently lives with 3 other dogs, 2 females and a male and she does great with all of them. She doesn't greet new dogs with open arms but it's not too difficult to get her to accept them and be friendly. She is good with people. She lives with older children and is great with them. I'm sure she would do fine with younger children too. Cats are unknown but we could introduce her and find out ( well supervised of course). She could use some work with her obedience skills but most Rotties her age do. She is a smart girl but a typical stubborn rottweiler sometimes. Her foster ... (Read More)family is great and they have been teaching her house manners, crate training, leash skills, and just working on shaping her into an all around great family dog! If you are interested in meeting Scarlet please go to http://www.rottenrottie.com/adoption.html and fill out the adoption questionnaire under the forms tab and return it to us. We will contact you once we have had a chance to look it over and let you know if Scarlet and which of our other rottweilers, may be a good fit for you and your lifestyle, and set up an appointment for you to meet those rottweilers. He loves going on his bike ride or just sleeping on the couch. Housebroken and crate trained. This dog loves people. Rescue Me ID: 17-10-14-00016Rachel (female)

Rottweiler    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: High Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Rachel is about 11 months old. She has lots of energy and loves to play with her foster brother who is a black lab. She doesn't do too well with other female dogs and she likes to play and wrestle in rottweiler fashion so I am not sure that she would be great with little dogs without a lot of direction and discipline. If you are a strong leader you could make that work. She is fine with cats. She hangs out with a little gray cat at her foster home often. She is a quick learner and aims to please. In the couple of weeks that we have had the pleasure of getting to know her, she has learned so much! She is walking well on a leash, she went from ... (Read More)hating her crate to being fine with it. She is learning to sit and wait and take treats gently. When she first came to us she had a really bad habit of putting her feet in any water dish she came across and digging at the bottom of the bowl with her feet which not only made a mess, but it would pollute her drinking water, so we have been working on that and its barely an issue anymore. She wants to be a good kid, she is just getting a late start on her training. If you have been telling yourself that you want a puppy because you want to train her yourself, then Rachel is your girl. She mouths a bit like a younger puppy too. We are working on that too. She is a diamond in the ruff, waiting for your guidance and leadership so that she can shine as bright as the stars! If you would like to meet this girl who is full of personality and love, please fill out our adoption questionnaire located under the forms tab on www.rottenrottie.com On October 21st in the afternoon you will have the opportunity to meet all of our dogs under one roof at Rottoberfest This opportunity only happens once a year and the date is quickly approaching!. Rescue Me ID: 17-10-14-00014Popeye (male)

Rottweiler    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Popeye came from the euthanasia list in an L.A. County Shelter. He had cherry eyes in both of his eyes really bad. A vet in LA offered to fix his eyes, if a rescue would step up and save him, so we did, and he was scheduled for surgery. After his surgery it became necessary to board him for a week before we could get him transported to Az. Unfortunately, a different vet's office boarded him and they did not make him wear a cone and didn't put drops in this eyes and he popped his stitches and his cherry came back up. So he arrived in AZ a mess and after a dose of antibiotics we scheduled him with our vet to have the surgery done a 2nd time. ... (Read More)He still has a lot of swelling from the surgery so it's hard to tell what he will ultimately look like, but it is a lot better than it was. Our vet said he has had two major surgeries on a very delicate part of his body in a month's time and I should expect that it's going to take his awhile to heal. I'm praying that it gets better soon, otherwise he may be stuck looking like he hasn't slept in a week. Popeye has been living in my kitchen since he arrived from LA almost 2 months ago. He kisses some of the dogs through the fence and other dogs get him really excited. I have not been able to let him run and play with the other dogs because I do not want the other dogs to cause trauma to his eyes. I am also not 100% sure that he will be friendly with them. I think he could co-exist in a friendly manner and possibly even love a little girl dog someday, but probably not hang with boys. I have not seen him around cats or other animals or children. Without the excitement of the other dogs he is a pretty mellow guy. I love him because he never counter surfs or gets in the garbage no matter what I leave on the counter. He has to have a lot of self-control not to counter soft. Since he lives in my kitchen he has plenty of opportunity. He is independent and does not require a lot of maintenance such as demanding that you pet him, he doesn't lick people and he never jumps on people. He is a perfect gentleman. He would be successful with a single person or an older couple without any pets, or with one female friendly submissive dog. He loves going for walks, and knows some basic commands. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-29-00165Emily (female)

Rottweiler    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Emily is a female adult rottie whose age is unknown. We believe that she is probably about 3 years old or so. A family found her last winter running in the desert, and brought her home. She was nothing but skin and bones back then. Emaciated to the extreme. You could easily count every vertebrae. The family that found her, didn't want her in the house because she had s couple of ticks on her. This was dead of winter with temps dropping below 30 degrees at night. They had her sleeping in a crate on their patio with some blankets piled on to of it. With not an once of fat on her body she became sick with pneumonia. When we were asked to take ... (Read More)her into our rescue, they had just taken her to their vet who had diagnosed her as a diabetic. They did not want to deal with that and surrendered her to us. It's been a long road to get Emily where she is today. She is as healthy as anyone can expect a diabetic to be. Her numbers are within a good rage and she is now close to a normal weight for a healthy rottie. Her foster mom is god sent and does a fabulous job making sure that Emily gets her insulin shots twice a day . I asked her to write about how it is live with Emiy and this is what she said. Emily Gorgeous Classic Rottie - BEAUTIFUL Rottie face and build and VERY, VERY loving!! Her special needs do NOT limit her ability to enjoy life to the FULLEST . . she is not shy or limited in ANY way, shape or form. She is truly one of the BEST, EASIEST and MOST LOVING fosters I have had in my 10+ years of being involved in rescue. Again, Em not only LOVES her people, but she LOVES her toys, is SUPER-DUPER smart, well-behaved, trusting, adorable, silly (loves the semi-deflated basketball and is a HOOT to watch as she bats it around and chases it), has a kennel full of toys. she not the best at sharing since she can't see all that well, so her play time with toys is structured, she's a little too zealous with her rawhides and gags herself therefore those are a 'no-no', her favorite toys are ones that squeak or move a bit but she's really not picky at all . . she truly does LOVE all toys J . . she doesn't tear up her toys or bedding but again she really is a bit of a toy hoarder so you can usually find most (if not all of her toys) tucked away in her kennel J. In typical Rottie fashion she needs to be the queen of the household so no other large dominant females, but she is fine with her little white fluffy female friend lily, . .she does get along well with the males in our household but when they are playing rough I keep her separated since she can't see well and it's not fair for her to get 'ambushed' when they are engaging in their typical play behavior - She would do fine as an only dog too. . .. she is a good guard dog and will alert you if someone is approaching you or your residence that she is not familiar with. She REALLY gets around quite well so it leads me to believe she can at least see shadow, if not more. She LOVES, LOVES, LOVES her walks and will sleep quietly at your feet while you watch TV and/or work on your pc. She is ok being left on her own as long as she has access to a doggie door. She would NEVER, EVER, EVER pottie in the house, her kennel or her sleeping area and she is extremely good at finding a way to let herself out if needed and then back in as well. Again, she does listen really well and her main goals in life are to love, be loved and to please her pet parents . everything else (even toys, walks and belly rubs) are secondary to those 3 things in her life DON'T MISS EMILY's VIDEO. jUST CLICK ON THE PICTURE OF THE TV SET BY HER PICTURES (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-10-01-00017Skye (female)

Rottweiler    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Skye (AKA Big Mama) is a spayed, happy, sweet, butt wiggling big girl. I believe she may be around 6 years old. She's content to just lay around with her favorite toy, a ChuckIt! ball that she always has with her. She loves belly rubs and walks. (She could use more walks, to drop some pounds) If she wants your attention she has been known to take your arm in her mouth, very gently, and move it to her. She loves water. She will play in a kiddie pool as well as her water bowl. She was adopted from the Apache Junction Paws & Claws Care center in 2013. She was found as a stray weighing only 54lbs! She has definitely made up for the lack of ... (Read More)weight. She has been living with 6 other dogs, 2 females & 4 males, ranging from 15lbs to 40lbs, and a house with 3 women. She is the dominate dog of the house and will defend that title. Out of the other dogs, she has had no issues with any expect one, one other dominate female. She is a much smaller dog and has suffered serious repercussions of challenging her. This is no way makes Skye a violent dog. I believe she would do best in a house with either a male or non dominate dog. She would have no problem being an only dog either. She has never chewed or destroyed anything other than stuffed animals. She has no problem being home alone and is doggie door trained. She does have a crate, but has never been crated for an extended period of time. She is protective of her family. I have found it's best to keep her away from the door and held until she meets guests. She has given two men warning nips when they walked into the home unannounced. Once she is allowed to sniff and give her approval they'll be her new friend. She has no exposure with children under 13 or cats while I have had her. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Rottweiler in Arizona
Rottweiler Dogs can make good pets in Arizona if they match your IifestyIe. The Rottweiler is a large breed herding and guard dog. Rottweilers are very stable and brave. This breed needs a firm, experienced handler from the very beginning. Rottweilers can be good family pets that are trustworthy with children and other pets if they are trained and socialized from an early age.
