Rescue Me ID: 17-01-07-00010Bonnie (female)

Rottweiler    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Bonnie is an easy going girl who is about 5 years old, good with the other dogs that she has met and lived with, Good with kids. She is a protector and loved her human children in her last home. In fact she was going to be a service dog for an autistic child that she lived with and loved. That was the plan anyway. Then one day someone entered their home, and Bonnie was confused and didn't think the person should be in the home, and Bonnie told the person to leave and when then didn't, Bonnie bit them on the arm. The arm was badly bruised, but other then that not bad. Bonnie's owner said that she did want to have to deal with issues like that ... (Read More)and gave her back to us. Funny, because she had asked for a protective dog when she first came to us. Had this person really been an intruder, Bonnie would have been a hero. We have taken a couple of weeks to observe her around people who come to our house to visit, and she has growled at a couple of people, but we were able to convey to her, that they were friends and it was alright for them to be in the house. I think the stronger she bonds will someone, she could potentially become a little over protective. Her new owner will need to socialize her as often as possible and teach her that it isn't her job to protect the family. Unless of course, you want her to have that job, then you should send her to protection training so that she can make better decisions on who she is suppose to protect you from. She walks well on a leash, she knows her basic commands, sit, stay, down, come, drop it, etc. She doesn't plow through doorways or jump on people when she gets excited. She is crate trained and potty trained and generally a well behaved dog. Have not seen her around cats, but there is a good possibility that she may do fine with them. Fill out a questionnaire under the forms tab on www.rottenrottie.com and return it if you would like to meet Bonnie. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-07-00007Idaho (male)

Rottweiler    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Idaho could be an amazing companion for the right person. He is very agile. A sport dog. He plays ball and he plays frisbee! He is always ready to go for a walk and if you don't want to take him he also knows how to walk on a treadmill! He jumps on and will walk at a full incline for about 20 minutes. I will even give you his treadmill if you are the lucky one to adopt him. Idaho has been professionally trained and professionally remote collar trained and his trainer has even offered to give you lesson on how to continue with his training. His training alone cost $1700 that you will get the benefits of for free! He is also a very handsome ... (Read More)boy that has that big block head that everybody wants so badly for their rottie to have. The kind of head that usually cost people thousands of dollars to find at a good breeder. Drop dead gorgeous !! He loves attention and he loves hanging out with his people and you won't find a better watch dog and natural protector. Trust me when I say that nobody will be stupid enough to break an entry with Idaho on the property! Those are the pros and unfortunately there are some cons too. The cons are that he doesn't play well with other dogs. Even if he is introduced to another dog properly and generally likes the dog he plays too rough to allow them to interact. Some dogs he hates. He has attacked a few dogs, which is not cool, so his owner can not have any other animals and they can not want any other dogs in their life in the future. Idaho also does not like children. So you can never have a child in the future as long as he is alive and you certainly can not have any kids in your life already. However he is completely crate trained, so if once a year you have company visit that have kids, you can either crate him or give him back to us to board him. I wouldn't trust him with teenaged Evers. Because he is so protective, it's best for him to go to a home that is not active. Someone who has very little company that comes over . If you think you might be a good match for Idaho please contact me. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-07-00006Recker (male)

Rottweiler    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I know what you're thinking but he wasn't named Recker like in he wrecks everything, he was named Recker like the street name. He is far from a wrecker. In fact in the time that we have had him He hasn't wrecked anything, not even a dog toy. He is very gentle and very well behaved. The last couple of days I've been thinking huh I wonder why nobody has shown interest in this gorgeous 1 year old boy yet? My family and I all agreed earlier today that he is such a good boy, and it just dawned on me, I haven't listed him for adoption on any adoption websites yet!! Duh. So here is your chance to own a young handsome, friendly, smart, well behaved ... (Read More)purebred rottweiler before everybody else see this post. please go to http://www.rottenrottie.com/adoption.html and fill out the adoption questionnaire under the forms tab and return it to us. We will contact you once we have had a chance to look it over and let you know which dogs may be a good fit for you and your lifestyle. We look forward to working with you. I don't really know if he is good with kids, that is just a hunch that I think he will be good with them. We have not tested him around cats . He has played with every dog that has walked through our doors since we got him. He has very good social skills. He was turned into the county shelter apparently because he killed a chicken. In his defense he was pretty skinny when he came to us, and it's very possible he was just hungry! He has gained enough weight so that I would consider him a healthy weight now. If you would like to meet Recker please go to http://www.rottenrottie.com/adoption.html and fill out the adoption questionnaire under the forms tab and return it to us. We will contact you once we have had a chance to look it over and let you know which dogs may be a good fit for you and your lifestyle. We look forward to working with you. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-12-10-00025Boyd (male)

Rottweiler    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Boyd is a 3 year old AKC papered rottweiler and does come with his pedigree. He has been professionally trained by Lorenzo's Dog Training, and his trainer Galen will be offeing you a couple of free lessons so that you can learn how to continue with the way that he has been trained. Boyd was surrender to us because he bit a child who was visiting his home for thanksgiving. They had given Boyd a bone and placed him on his bed in the corner and Boyd was happy to chew his bone all alone, but then the child decided that Boyd should kiss him and he tried to give Boyd a hug and kiss and Boyd snapped at the child and bit him. Nothing major but did ... (Read More)break skin a little bit. So we are going to say that Boyd needs to be placed in a home with older kids only, and parents who are willing and able to supervise their kids around the dog. Boyd does well with other dogs but due to his food aggression it may be best that he is the only dog or with a family who does not insist on giving their dogs bones and then leaving them out. Treats, food and anything of high value would need to be given to Boyd in his crate, outside or in another room and picked up when he is done with it. Other then that issue Boyd is a very handsome, smart, ultra cool boy! If you would like to meet Boyd please fill out out adoption questionnaire located here http://www.rottenrottie.com/adoption.html thank you. (Less)

Rottweiler    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meat, short for Meathead (and we are hoping whoever adopts him gives him a better name) is an XXL rottie who doesnt know it. He thinks he is a lap dog. He is the sweetest dog. He loves other dogs. Was raised on a farm and apparently didnt like the sheep next door. He lived with 6 other dogs and small children and wasd fabulous with all. He moved into a foster home and loves the two dogs he lives with there, which is a basset hound and a female rottie. He immediately made himself feel right at home. He is very well behaved and potty, crate and leash trained. He is a people pleaser. Does not jump on people, dig or cause destruction. Im told by ... Rescue Me ID: 16-12-02-00021Chandler (male)

Rottweiler    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

If you have ever looked at your dog and said awe you were so cute as a puppy, I wish you would have stayed that size forever? Well I think that someone wished Chandler would stay small forever and their wish came true. He is definitely 100% Rottweiler, but just a lot smaller than most. He is adorable. I call him my pocket Rottie. :-). Chandler knows how to sit, down, and walk on a leash well. He also has a great recall. He is potty-trained and crate trained. He loves to snuggle like no other. If it is soft or plush you will find him sleeping on it. He is all about being cozy and comfortable. He loves food and is highly motivated by it. He is ... (Read More)good with other dogs as far as we have seen but a meet and greet would be necessary to see how he does with your dogs. Cats are unknown, children are also unknown but Chandler has a really good temperament and it's hard to believe that he could be bad with kids. He wants to curl up in your lap and hug you every chance he gets. A very sweet dog! If you want to meet Chandler or any of our not so Rotten Rotties please go to http://www.rottenrottie.com/adoption.html and fill out the adoption questionnaire under the forms tab and return it to us. This gentle rottweiler loves kids, cats and dogs. I have not found anything that really gets him crazy. Vacuums no problem. Thunder no problem. New people in the room, public places, other dogs or cats, he is confident and good with all of it. Francis is also obedience trained. He walks well on a flat collar. Walks in a perfect heel. He will also sit, down, stay, wait at door ways, give you his paw, and give you his other paw, or just about anything for a treat. He takes a little while before ... (Read More)he warms up to new people and wants to cuddle with you. You can hug him but he won't hug you back for a couple of hours and then watch out, he turns into a cuddle bug!! I tell you it doesn't get any better than this!! Francis was starved in his previous life. He currently weighs 93 pounds, but his ideal weight will be around 120 pounds. Rescue Me ID: 16-11-17-00466Gummy Bear (male)

Rottweiler    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bear is about 4 years old Male Neutered Rottweiler that doesn't understand there IS enough love to go around! This guy is a people-pleaser and wants nothing more than to have someone to hang out with all day! He is up for anything! From going on walks to laying around the house, as long as there's someone there to love him! Bear has shown some dog aggression in the past so a one dog home is the best for him. He is a very happy-go-lucky dog with a lot of energy so regular walks and a structured schedule will keep him in a better mindset. He came to Rotten Rotties very underweight and is gaining by the day! A good guesstimate of a healthy ... (Read More)weight for this guy is around 100-110 lbs. He is very friendly to new people as long as he's introduced properly but still 'bears' that protective instinct that we love about this breed. Bear comes professionally trained through Lorenzo's Dog Training Team and comes with free handling sessions to help make his transition into his new home easier for everyone involved. He walks nicely on the leash, knows the moving heel and stationary heel positions, sits/lays down and stays all on one command. Bear also sits patiently at the door when it's opened and knows the 'spot' command. He hasn't displayed any destructive behaviors and is fully house trained! Animal ID: ShelbyShelby - Only $55!!! (male)

Rottweiler Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

AVAILABLE SHELBY (Rottweiler mix) Only $55 adoption!!! This sweetheart was saved off the euthanasia list at one of the shelters. He was originally an owner surrender (due to owner travel). Shelby is so sweet and gentle. He is a total love bug! He would be content spending most of the day laying at your feet and soaking up all of the love, petting, and scratches you have to offer. He also loves to play ball. He will bring the ball back to you and allow you to remove it from his mouth, but when he's tiring, he'll drop it near you. When he's done, he'll carry the ball with him in his mouth and go lay down. Shelby is overweight and doesn't ... (Read More)currently have the stamina for long walks. He would be best in a home that will walk him twice a day for 30 minutes to help him lose weight, then to maintain a healthy weight. A game or two of fetch with the ball each day would also be fun and beneficial for him. Here is a short video of him since we have rescued him: https://www.facebook.com/100010396650763/videos/335343776822175/ Shelby knows basic commands such as 'sit,' 'stay,' 'no,' etc and is crate trained as well as potty trained. We are working on other commands, including doggie door training. PLEASE NOTE: All of the pets at Safe Haven receive basic training when they come here. All adopters will be given a list of words that your new pet knows at the time of adoption. What each pet learns depends on how much time I have had to work with them, & if that pet has any additional issues that need to be focused on first. The pets here are always improving. Age/Birthday: Previous owner stated he is 4 yrs old. Weight at last Vet visit: 76lbs, Shelby was overweight when coming to his foster home. He's a medium sized dog and needs to continue losing weight. Cats: Previous owner stated he was friendly with cats; however, he was tested with an indoor cat while fostered and did not do well. He had a hard stare on the cat and would not look away despite numerous attempts to distract him. When the cat moved, Shelby lunged towards the cat. Shelby cannot go to a home with cats. He sees them as prey. Small Dogs: Previous owner stated Shelby is good with dogs. He has not been exposed to little dogs in his foster home. Large Dogs: Shelby previously lived with, and came to the shelter with, a German Shepherd that was his best buddy. He is also being fostered in a home with 2 large female dogs. One energetic and one more mellow natured. Shelby enjoys the company of both dogs, but doesn't engage in much play with them. When he does, he doesn't seem to have a preference as to which one he plays with. Kids: Previous owner stated he is good with children. Shelby has had limited exposure to children while in his foster home. He has met my 2 year old nephew and did well with him and didn't react when my nephew petted him. Shelby also sits at the front door and watches children go by in the morning and afternoon as there is a school at the end of the street. He doesn't react to them walking by or when they are loud and jumping around. Men: Shelby is friendly with men. Women: Shelby is friendly with women. Strangers: Shelby has met several strangers while on walks around the neighborhood and has been friendly to everyone he has met. Food: I feed all the dogs on a rotational diet. Which means they get a different brand of high quality food each month. I do this because I do not think that one brand can provide all the nutrients that they need. Just like one food can't provide us with all that we need...plus, who wants to eat the same thing every day? All dogs are fed breakfast (7 am) and dinner (5 pm), and are trained to eat out of their own bowl. Shelby was overweight when he came to his foster home and still needs to lose weight. I am currently feeding him a bit less to help him lose weight at a steady pace, but he would benefit from a lower calorie diet, one meant for weight loss. He eats very slow. He occasionally walks away from his bowl of food and comes back a few minutes later to finish. He does great when eating around other dogs. He is also gentle when taking treats from your hand. Crate Trained: Shelby is crate trained. He will go in his crate when I point inside and say 'inside.' He occasionally has selective listening. On these occasions, I put a leash on him and walk him towards the crate. He immediately goes inside before I even have a chance to say, 'inside.' Shelby has never had an accident in his crate and has been able to hold it through the night. He's a quiet boy while in his crate, but occasionally will whine when he wants to be let out. This doesn't seem to correlate to him needing to go potty though. Shelby was crated much of the time when he first arrived, but is now only crated at night and when I leave. If I am only going to be gone for a short time, I am at the point where I will leave him loose in the house with the other dogs, House Trained: He will walk to the back door when he wants (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-10-01-00017Skye (female)

Rottweiler    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Skye (AKA Big Mama) is a spayed, happy, sweet, butt wiggling big girl. I believe she may be around 6 years old. She's content to just lay around with her favorite toy, a ChuckIt! ball that she always has with her. She loves belly rubs and walks. (She could use more walks, to drop some pounds) If she wants your attention she has been known to take your arm in her mouth, very gently, and move it to her. She loves water. She will play in a kiddie pool as well as her water bowl. She was adopted from the Apache Junction Paws & Claws Care center in 2013. She was found as a stray weighing only 54lbs! She has definitely made up for the lack of ... (Read More)weight. She has been living with 6 other dogs, 2 females & 4 males, ranging from 15lbs to 40lbs, and a house with 3 women. She is the dominate dog of the house and will defend that title. Out of the other dogs, she has had no issues with any expect one, one other dominate female. She is a much smaller dog and has suffered serious repercussions of challenging her. This is no way makes Skye a violent dog. I believe she would do best in a house with either a male or non dominate dog. She would have no problem being an only dog either. She has never chewed or destroyed anything other than stuffed animals. She has no problem being home alone and is doggie door trained. She does have a crate, but has never been crated for an extended period of time. She is protective of her family. I have found it's best to keep her away from the door and held until she meets guests. She has given two men warning nips when they walked into the home unannounced. Once she is allowed to sniff and give her approval they'll be her new friend. She has no exposure with children under 13 or cats while I have had her. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-09-24-00020Demi (female)

Rottweiler    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Demi was found with an older dog as strays and were taken in the county dog shelter. It's apparent that she and her older friend were both severely neglected and probably abused. Due to their breed and the severe over crowding at the shelter, they were held for the required 72 hours and then placed on the euthanasia list. Sadly her friend did not make it out. Demi is like a child who is starving for attention. She loves to cuddle and be by your side at all times. She would follow you from room to room or wherever you go and keep an eye on you at all times. She wants human affection very badly. Likely it's because she has never had it ... (Read More)before. It's a whole new experience for her, and she is digging it! She is very thin and eats every meal like it will be her last, but she does not show any aggression over her food. If you are looking for a cuddly cute rottweiler who you can spoil then Demi is your girl! She is about 5 years old we think. Please fill out our adoption questionnaire located under the forms tab on www.rottenrottie.com so that we can introduce you to this darling girl. (Less)

Rottweiler    Age: Adult

Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I have owned elektra since she was a puppy. She is currently 5 years old. She is very good with my kids that range 7-14. However she doesnot get along with my Deaf Great Dane who trys to rough house with her but she will get aggressive in return. But she has no problems with my fox terrier (male). So my suggestion if having with other dogs, have a smaller/submissive dog.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Rottweiler in Arizona
Rottweiler Dogs can make good pets in Arizona if they match your IifestyIe. The Rottweiler is a large breed herding and guard dog. Rottweilers are very stable and brave. This breed needs a firm, experienced handler from the very beginning. Rottweilers can be good family pets that are trustworthy with children and other pets if they are trained and socialized from an early age. If a Rottweiler is not treated properly it can become aggressive. Rottweilers need plenty of exercise and can run in open country without a leash. Rottweilers can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard if they get enough exercise.
