Rescue Me ID: 16-11-04-00462Socks (male)

Rottweiler    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Socks is a three year old Rottweiler. He is still very energetic. He is housebroken and gets along well with other dogs. He is terrified of cats. He does take a little while to warm up with humans so he has to be introduced properly. If he likes you it is pure love. If not then he is very stand offish. He does have a history of having issues with one child (probably about 12) but we seriously question what was being done to the dog as we see no temperament issues with him and children. He is a little testy when he is eating or chewing on a bone. If he is in a home with another dog he would need to be fed separately and not be ... (Read More)given bones. He has no issue sharing toys. Because of his history he needs to go to an experienced Rottie (or similar breed) owner who can work with him and not allow him to be the dominant in the home. He just turned 3 the end of October. He is now neutered, current on his shots, is heartworm negative and micro-chipped. His adoption fee is $150.00 if you are interested in Socks please go to our website at and complete an application. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Rottweiler in Iowa

This breed needs a firm, experienced handler from the very beginning. If a Rottweiler is not treated properly it can become aggressive. Rottweilers need plenty of exercise and can run in open country without a leash. Rottweilers can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard if they get enough exercise.
