Rescue Me ID: 14-10-06-00541Carlito (male)
Carlito, on the right with his brother Jefe, is one of a litter of 8 rescued from a cave in rural Northern New Mexico. He is a 'super dog:' stronger, smarter, and healthier than your average dog. He is not the biggest in litter, but he is the smartest and the leader. He is extremely intelligent (astounding at times) and observant and he is always the first in the litter to try things, figure out challenges and learn. He had no contact with humans until we rescued him, and within hours of leaving his parents, at 7 weeks old, Carlito made the connection that bonding with the humans was priority number one. One by one his siblings learned this, too, by observing Carlito. He quickly learned to make eye contact and pay attention and that his love and affection would be rewarded. He had never been in a house before but learned how to use stairs in a few minutes, faster that any other pup I've known. He is eager to please and wants desperately to bond with his forever humans. He would rather cuddle with his human than play with his siblings, and when picked up he practically melts in my arms. He will always be an affectionate cuddler, the kind of dog that puts his head on your knee and gazes lovingly up at you because he just adores you. Carlito is a 'people puppy,' great with humans of all ages. He will probably be happiest as an only dog. He has appropriate protective instincts but is not too aggressive. He's paper trained and will be easy to transition to doing his business outside only. The only reason he's not fully housebroken is that I can't housebreak 8 dogs at once! Carlito comes from sturdy stock. His parents are strong, healthy, intelligent, loyal survivers. Many dogs in rural New Mexico are not spayed, neutered, or vaccinated and unwanted puppies are just taken to a remote area and dumped. It's a common occurrence to have stray dogs and puppies show up at the door and 'apply for a job.' Carlito's parents survived starvation, disease, dog attacks, speeding cars, snake bites, being used as target practice or dog fighting, freezing in winter, over heating in summer and deadliest of all, packs of coyotes. Carlito's parents had to stand guard at all times to keep away the bold coyote scout that sat 15 feet away, calmly watching the puppies. It's common knowledge that coyote scouts will wait for the chance to playfully lure a young dog away from home, frolicking and playing and leading the puppy into an ambush. The arroyos and un-settled areas, even back yards, are littered with dog skeletons left by the coyotes. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-30-00181Bailey (female)
Bailey is an absolutely beautiful AKC Rottie from German breeders (hence the full tail, German breeders do not crop). She is a very lovable 85 lbs. She's very curious and submissive to the alpha of the family. Loves to run and play, unfortunately my health is failing and I struggle to keep up with her needs. I love her with all my heart and can no longer allow her to go without the play, exercise and attention she needs and deserves. She's a great family addition and very loving and protective of her people and property. I hate the thought of letting her go, but my situation is just no longer fair to her. She honestly deserves the best, and I am just no longer capable of giving it to her. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-30-00123Titus (male)
Titus is a very good dog who loves to run and catch a ball. I have had him since he was 7 weeks old. He will be 4 in November. I really do not want to give him up, but he needs a lot of attention and unfortunately I, nor my family can give it to him right now. He enjoys for you to rub his belly and scratch under his chin. Titus is house broken and knows most commands. He does need additional training, but is an excellent dog for a loving home.

Animal ID: 14-09-29-00585Zoey (female)
Zoey is an amazing dog. We truly love her and hate to see her leave. I wouldn't say that she is aggressive but she is when she has something that she believes is hers.. She recently bite me (that's why she needs to go) when she grabbed a paper towel off the table when she knew it wasn't hers. We have such a busy life with many little kids, and we are afraid that she could bite a kid and our situation now with my bite could be way worse. She has never been aggressive towards anyone in any other situation. The only time she gets nasty is when she has something that's not hers. She loves walks, runs, being played with and treats. She's a huge cuddle bug and loves anybody that walks through the door. We have parties every weekend and she will stay in the yard without going anywhere else. She knows all her commands and listens well. She needs to be with someone who has either no kids, or kids over 10 (doesn't like little kids in her face and grabbing on her noes and ears)and no other dogs. She gets along with most male dogs, but she will pick and choose. NO females. Please contact me if you are interested in Zoey. She really is great. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-06-24-00593Nicki (female)
Darlin Nicki is searching for a home of her own! She had a rough start in life but is now happy and has learned to love again. She's a little afraid initially but truly savors any attention lavished on her by her foster mom and dad. She is housetrained and even alerts her foster when she needs to go out to do her business. She does well on walks, but is also extremely happy couch surfing with her humans and furry foster sibling. Nicki is a little overweight, but that just means there is more of her to love. She need to go to a home who is willing to take her out for some exercise and be her running buddy.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Rottweiler in Maryland
Rottweiler Dogs can make good pets in Maryland if they match your IifestyIe. The Rottweiler is a large breed herding and guard dog. Rottweilers are very stable and brave. This breed needs a firm, experienced handler from the very beginning. Rottweilers can be good family pets that are trustworthy with children and other pets if they are trained and socialized from an early age. If a Rottweiler is not treated properly it can become aggressive. Rottweilers need plenty of exercise and can run in open country without a leash. Rottweilers can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard if they get enough exercise.
