Animal ID: 15-01-26-00138Stella (female)

Rottweiler Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Male Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Stella just turned four years old. She has been our family dog since she was a puppy. Stella for the most part is a great dog, she loves attention, loves to play catch, walks good with training on a leash, she is housebroken, likes the water and her belly rubbed. The reason we are unable to keep her is her aggression/possessiveness when it comes to other dogs, mainly female dogs. She has bitten my husband once when he tried to keep her away from a dog. More importantly she bit my 2 year old daughter recently. Not sure why. She may have had a sore paw. We just do not have the time it will take to train her and we can not risk her biting ... (Read More)again. We are facing euthanasia as we have exhausted all other options. She really is a good dog, she just needs to be in a home where one is able to dedicate the time and effort she needs. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-11-00202Chelsea (female)

Rottweiler Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Needs to be Spayed

I rescued Chelsea from being taken to the pound. I have fostered her for a couple weeks but can not keep her permanently. She is a fun, friendly dog, but, has a couple issues. She is not good with other dogs and is food aggressive toward them. No problems with people around her food however. She is very, very gentle when taking food from your hand. I was told from the people I took the dog from that she is not good around children. Therefore I would like her to go to a home with no children or other dogs. I am told she is OK around cats but I don't have any so I can't confirm. She is supposed to be UTD on shots but they could not find any ... (Read More)paperwork or a rabies tag so I would recommend getting them, just in case. She is NOT fixed and has had a litter in May. She is not leash trained and doesn't know any basic commands such as sit, stay, lay down, no, etc.... But she is as sweet as can be and loves attention. I just don't want to see this beautiful girl going to the pound and getting euthanized just because of her breed. With her food aggression issue I believe she would be hard to adopt out even if she went to a no kill shelter. So I have come here for help. Please someone give this sweet baby a good home. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Rottweiler in Michigan
Rottweiler Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. The Rottweiler is a large breed herding and guard dog. Rottweilers are very stable and brave. This breed needs a firm, experienced handler from the very beginning. Rottweilers can be good family pets that are trustworthy with children and other pets if they are trained and socialized from an early age. If a Rottweiler is not treated properly it can become aggressive. Rottweilers need plenty of exercise and can run in open country without a leash. Rottweilers can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard if they get enough exercise.
