Animal ID: 130966Sonny (male)
At 8 months old, Sonny is an enthusiastic Rottie puppy. He is all about happy play, play and more play. He is definitely a live wire! Plays with toys with gusto and hung on to the rawhide for a game of tug-of-war--no aggression. He had an excellent food test. While he wasn't aggressive with the test dog, he could use some dog socialization classes since his enthusiasm may be overwhelming to other dogs. If you are interested in adopting him, we advise a meet and greet at the shelter. Sonny is an active pup for an active family.

Rescue Me ID: 14-11-10-00039Tawny (female)
TAWNY is a super cute, affectionate, shy girl who weighs around 50 pounds. She has an estimated date of birth of 15 April 2013. TAWNY is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, micro-chipped and recently tested negative for heartworm and the 3 tick-borne diseases. TAWNY is very affectionate, but she does take some time to warm up to people, she likes to watch from a distance and then approaches with caution but then lavishes in all the affection that she gets. TAWNY is very treat oriented so training would be easy to do, although she has not had any kind of training whilst here at our rescue in south Texas. TAWNY is affectionate and friendly, great with all dogs and puppies and humans once she has accepted them. TAWNY would love a family that understands that she will need time to adjust to her new family and lifestyle, who has time to guide her and teach her what expectations are set for her and to give her a wonderful, fun packed life. Tawny has volunteered to help Santa pull his sleigh this year...as long as it goes directly to her fur-ever home first! Go to www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org and Tawny will skip Santa's sleigh and catch a ride on Rescue Road Trips to get to your house in time for some eggnog and cookies! Adoption fee includes cost of transport. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-11-05-00564Duncan (male)
Duncan is a real sweetheart! He is so calm and mellow. He was found as a stray, which is very sad, considering he is almost completely blind from cataracts. Despite this, he has a wonderful temperament. We think he would do best in a home with another dog to be his helper. Please call the shelter at 908-996-2525 for more info.

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-22-00329Leilah Rose (female)
phenomenal dog, super talented, approx. 60 lbs right now, just turned a year old this month. ready to protect its family as it's natural breed instincts tell us they normally do. Leilah will be your best friend forever, and she does not make a peep at night, she goes to bed and does not bother us at all, we have 4 kids that love her dearly, due to financial hardship we are moving to new place that does not accept her breed, she has completed the first level of training with Petsmart with flying colors. this dog is far from a nag, she is loyal and will be missed for a long time by our family.

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-06-00138Cassidy (female)
Cassidy is a nice girl but she is quite fearful here at our shelter. She is slowly coming out of her shell and enjoys a nice daily walk. She will need some time to warm up to a new owner so we are hoping to find someone with time, patience and experience with a fearful dog. We don't know what our sweet Cassidy has gone through prior to coming to us but we are hoping she finds love in a new home soon and in a home with adults only. If interested in meeting Cassidy, please complete an adoption application and we can schedule a time for you to meet her. Thank you. To fill out an adoption application, please go to www.theanimalorphanage.org and click on Pet Adoption and then Cat Adoption Form or Dog Adoption Form. Please remember to put Cassidy's name on the form. Thanks! Our pets are spayed or neutered prior to going to their new homes. |Rescue Me ID: 14-07-20-00348Sheba Larue (female)|
Sheba has been very abused so much so that her snout is permanently scarred yet she still comes gently to be pet. we took her from a kill shelter shaking and regressing in her corner and now she will interact with us and the other dogs. She loves treats and will share them! She needs a permanent fur-ever home so she can be loved and erase the early years of such terrible abuse and neglect. She MUST have a fenced-in yard as she is terrified of walking with a leash. Otherwise she's an awesome pretty girl!

Rescue Me ID: 14-06-28-00141Rambo (male)
Rambo is a 5 year old dog who loves his bath. He has had formal training and knows verbal commands and hand signals. Has not been around children but is a very friendly dog. We inherited Rambo when our son passed away and are looking for a good home with a yard because Rambo loves to play and run. As long as you feed him, he will be your friend for life. We are looking for a loving, caring person to take good care of Rambo and give him a good home.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Rottweiler in New Jersey
Rottweiler Dogs can make good pets in New Jersey if they match your IifestyIe. The Rottweiler is a large breed herding and guard dog. Rottweilers are very stable and brave. This breed needs a firm, experienced handler from the very beginning. Rottweilers can be good family pets that are trustworthy with children and other pets if they are trained and socialized from an early age. If a Rottweiler is not treated properly it can become aggressive. Rottweilers need plenty of exercise and can run in open country without a leash. Rottweilers can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard if they get enough exercise.
