Rescue Me ID: 15-03-30-00367Rufus (male)
This is Rufus and his Sister Sheine. They both need a forever home together. Their family has to relocate across the country and cannot find a place to live with them. They have had a great life of hiking and swimming in the hudson and are in great health. Rufus has a little fear with men, he howls, but he got used to my husband after a few weeks and has been the biggest lover ever since. They have been under our care for the bulk of their lives after being rescued from shelters early in life. They are our babies and we love them but we can't find a way to take them.

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-24-00613Braxton (male)
Braxton is a Rottweiler (maybe Lab) mix, and was born around November 2013. He currently weighs 72lbs (03/23/2015). Currently in his new foster home in DE, Braxton is still all puppy and bounds throughout the house! He has a lot of energy and loves to run circles in the yard! He would be a great dog for an active family!! He is very affectionate, cuddly and very curious! While in foster care in Georgia, he lived with 4 children, all under the age of 8 years old. While in GA he did live with a cat and reportedly did well, however, he is very curious about the cat in his new foster home. He does well with other dogs, right now, ignores them mostly. He is a bit of a resource guarder and does not share well (yet), but it's a new environment and once he is properly integrated, should do better. He seems to love his crate and wants to be fed in his crate, and settles in very quickly. He's an incredibly sweet and loving boy! All of our animals are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary. Vet references are required and prior to adoption a home inspection will be conducted. Transport options available. Adoption fee applies. If interested go to www.pmarinc.org for an application. Tiara's Info... I am already spayed, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with kids, not good with dogs, and not good with cats. Tiara's Story... Tiara is quite the pretty girl & very fitting of her name! She is mellow, easy going, loves long walks & lots of love & affection. Though Tiara has previously lived with another dog, she is a little unsure of new dogs so she would do best as your one & only. Tiara has been waiting so patiently for her furever home! |Rescue Me ID: 15-02-23-00646Seve Ballesteros (male)|
I'm From Tony's Ballesteros Transport! The Ballesteros transport is sponsored in memory of Tony D'Angelo, a Joyful Rescues adopter that passed away unexpectedly in the summer of '14. Tony loved the good work done by all the people at Joyful Rescues and the idea that great dogs were being saved and being placed into wonderful homes. He also LOVED golfing. His favorite golfer was Ballesteros so this is the last name of the twelve lucky dogs that were saved by dedicated volunteers Susan and Eileen who made the trek and back to West Virginia in fifty five hectic hours. Seve was born about December 27, 2007 and weighs about 55 pounds. He did well on his long ride here and is wonderful with the other dogs. He has been wonderful with all us humans and should do well in most any home. Below is an update from a foster mom that fostered him in West Virginia. It was a tearful good-bye but she was so happy that he was going to a safe location. Some info on Seve that might be helpful.. 1. Absolutely sweet..if you looked in a dictionary for the definition of 'sweet'..his picture should be there. 2. Loves a gentle loving hand and soft voices. 3. Gets along great with both male and female dogs. 4. Likes to just chill..would often just lay in his crate (by choice)..He is crate trained and doesn't seem to mind it at all. 5. Rides great in a car..even the first day I picked him up at the shelter, he just laid in the backseat like it was something he had done everyday. 6. He is very quiet and seldom barks. 7. He 'squeaks' when he yawns:) 8. Seve is eager to eat, but he will stand quietly while you prepare his bowl. He would then 'prance' off quickly to his crate when he saw that I was ready with his bowl. Sometimes he would hit the crate in his eagerness so hard it would slide. I'm not real sure why he thought he had to go to the crate to eat but that's where he'd go. 9. LOVES to cuddle with soft stuffed animals..he doesn't destroy them just likes to lay with them. 10. Seve is good on a leash. 12. He has lived with 3 cats ages 3-6 months and recently 2 kittens were brought in at about 6-8 weeks old. Seve never once showed any aggression towards them. He laid with the cats in the floor and sometimes if he was in his crate..the cats would reach through and play with his tail. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-03-02-00453Madison (female)
Madison is a young girl about 3 years old. She is super spunky, loves to play ball, give lots of kisses and constantly has a big smile on her face. She is definitely a Rottie who is the life of the party. She gets along fine with males but is selective with females. We would suggest her going to a home with older children since she is so playful. Madison was taken out of a Connecticut shelter where she was going to be put to sleep because she was there too long. Now she has her second chance to find a loving home.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Rottweiler in New York
Rottweiler Dogs can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. The Rottweiler is a large breed herding and guard dog. Rottweilers are very stable and brave. This breed needs a firm, experienced handler from the very beginning. Rottweilers can be good family pets that are trustworthy with children and other pets if they are trained and socialized from an early age. If a Rottweiler is not treated properly it can become aggressive. Rottweilers need plenty of exercise and can run in open country without a leash. Rottweilers can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard if they get enough exercise.
