Rescue Me ID: 16-06-07-00097Jaycee (female)
Sometimes a girl just needs a little extra help. Meet Jaycee, a gorgeous 3 year old Rottie who was surrendered to us because her family could no longer care for her. Her medical and behavioral evaluations tell the story of Jaycee: She's about 100lb (a good weight for her size and breed). Jacyee's perfect home is with someone who understands Rotties, and that they need exercise, physical and mental stimulation on a daily basis. You need to be in charge, and she will happily follow. She will tolerate a cat but needs maximum one other CALM dog in the home - or she's happy to be the only Queen of the Castle. She knows sit, down, settle (place) but still needs work on leash manners. Loves car rides and will go anywhere. Very friendly when meeting new people but has potential to be leash reactive to other dogs if not handled properly. She will guard food and toys from other dogs but once comfortable is fine with people approaching her while eating. We have engaged a wonderful trainer who has worked with her consistently to help her to be the best Jaycee possible. We'd like to keep that training in place, so adopters should potentially be in the northern Finger Lakes region between Rochester and Syracuse. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-06-00193Bane (male)
Meet Bane! He is the most calm and low maintenance dog you have been dreaming of! He has the fur and spirit of a teddy bear who just want to be loved all day long! He is a Cattle/Rottweiler mix. Bane originally came to us from Ross County Humane Society where he was found as a stray. He was adopted out quickly, however, it wasn't the best fit, so Bane came back to us. We are looking to give Bane a second chance at finding his new home that is better suited to his needs. This sweet boy is already housebroken and can be found carrying a toy in his mouth, just waiting for a family to notice him. His heart is open and ready to trust and fall in love with a family that will treat him like the amazing dog he is! Every dog deserves another chance at love, but Bane especially is eager to move on to the next and more cozy phase of his life, laying loyally at the feet of his new owner. Could that be you? |Rescue Me ID: 16-05-18-00594Lulu (female)|
Lulu is 2 and half years old. This beautiful girl was adopted over a year ago and was returned due to a new baby in the house. Lulu is good with kids but 8 years old and up is best. She loves other dogs and can be cat tested. Lulu is so confused on why her family gave her up. She misses a warm bed and human companionship. She loves to play fetch and cuddle up after a good play session. She is a lovable companion who is now patiently waiting for a real furever home.

Rescue Me ID: 16-04-27-00086Crow (male)
I Got Too Big! Crow was born July 27, 2015 and may top out right around 75 lbs. He is a beautiful, big, boy that was purchased by a truck driver, but he got too big for the truck so he had to come here, or so we were told. He is good on leash and loves car rides. He is great with the other dogs and is fine with cats and has been around children as young as 13 and all was well. Crow had some vet work done before arrival, they were taking good care of him, so upon calling the vet's office we were told that he had bitten the fiance a couple days ago bad enough for her to have stitches. Our intake form asks if a dog has ever bitten anyone and 'no' was circled. Since he was still here we asked him and the answer was 'no'. We asked the vet if they were sure and they said yes, so we asked the owner again and the answer was still 'no, never bitten anyone'. So, alrighty then, no use beating a dead horse as the saying goes. Upon writing this Crow has been here a few days and we've not seen any aggression. He did try to jump and, maybe, tried some dominance tactics at first, but that just doesn't happen here. We are all very good at being the dominant beings and since the first evening he has been a complete pleasure. There are men and women coming and going all day and he's been absolutely fine. We don't know what circumstances lead to the alleged bite so we all need to keep it in mind and so we are seeking a home where the humans have experience dealing with dominant type breeds. He was completely friendly with us on intake. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-03-20-00339Madison (female)
Madison is 4 years old and she still has a lot of puppy left in her. Madison is full of love and all she wants is human attention so would do best as an only pet. She loves to play ball and jump up to give you a kiss. We are not sure about cats but we can test her if needed. We would suggest her going to a home with older children since she is so playful and active. Madison was rescued from a Connecticut shelter where she was going to be put to sleep because she was there too long. She is being fostered in orange county NY so if you are interested in more information on Madison please e-mail the rescue at firstname.lastname@example.org.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Rottweiler in New York
Rottweiler Dogs can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. The Rottweiler is a large breed herding and guard dog. Rottweilers are very stable and brave. This breed needs a firm, experienced handler from the very beginning. Rottweilers can be good family pets that are trustworthy with children and other pets if they are trained and socialized from an early age. If a Rottweiler is not treated properly it can become aggressive. Rottweilers need plenty of exercise and can run in open country without a leash. Rottweilers can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard if they get enough exercise.
