Rescue Me ID: 16-12-01-00473Sissy (female)

Rottweiler    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This beautiful little Rottweiler is Sissy. She is a small Rottie and only weighs 55 pounds. Sissy was born January 12th, 2015 so she isn't even 2 years old yet. She will probably be 60-65 pounds when she matures and fills out. Sissy started her life being sold by a breeder with her sister Sassy. The people who purchased them from the breeder quickly fell on hard times and could not afford to feed themselves or their dogs. Both girls were emaciated when they were owner surrendered. The girls were chained up in a yard with log chains and had very little attention. These girls are thriving in their foster home. They love attention from ... (Read More)people and like cuddling close and having their bellies rubbed. Many of the Rottweiler breed characteristics fit Sissy. She is good natured, obedient, and intelligent. It's clear nobody worked with Sissy as a young pup. Sissy knows how to sit but has the typical fifteen second attention span of most puppies. She is eager to please as soon as he understands what it is you want her to do. Sissy is learning to walk nicely by your side on a leash but isn't there all the time yet. There are squirrels and bunnies to watch and she loses focus because she is still a baby and doesn't have much life experience off a chain yet. Sissy and her new family would greatly benefit from a basic obedience class. She needs someone committed to working with her and finishing her training. Sissy needs a fenced yard to safely run and play. Her forever home should not have a cat, Rottweilers usually think they are fun squeaky toys. Any children in her home need to be over 12 so she doesn't knock them over by accident. Sissy is house trained and crate trained. She is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, heartworm tested and microchipped. If you are interested in meeting Sissy, please start the adoption process by completing the adoption application on our website at www.furfunrescue.org. If you have any questions about Sissy, please contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Adopters within an hour of Cedar Rapids, IA only, please. Indoor homes only. Adoption donation $250. Rottweiler    Age: Young Adult

This gorgeous Rottweiler is Sassy. Sassy was born January 12th, 2015 so she isn't even 2 years old yet. She weighs 65 pounds now and could be 75-80 pounds when she matures and fills out. Rescue Me ID: 16-11-25-00126Diesel (male)

Rottweiler    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We want you to meet Diesel. He is a 6 year old Rottie who was abandoned at the boarding kennel. The owner made the decision to not reclaim him. He is a good sized boy. He is great with humans. Does not get along with other dogs and we would not trust him with cats. He is housebroken. He is neutered, current on his shots and will be micro-chipped prior to going home. He needs to find a home ASAP as he is getting a little irritable about being locked in a kennel for going on 8 weeks. He will require a firm owner - he does know basic commands but is pretty stubborn about listening. Part of that may be just because of the length of ... (Read More)time he has been confined. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-11-04-00462Socks (male)

Rottweiler    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Socks is a three year old Rottweiler. He is still very energetic. He is reported as housebroken and gets along well with other dogs. He does have an issue with his dad who lived in the same home but part of that may be because he wasn't neutered. We have him scheduled for a vet visit the first of the week where he will be neutered and heartworm checked as well as a full physical. He is a little touchy when you mess with his rear end. He does have a history of having issues with one child (probably about 12) but we seriously question what was being done to the dog as we see no temperament issues with him. He is a little testy when he ... (Read More)is eating but we believe with some diligence he can be broken of that or alternatively should be fed in his crate. He is crate trained. Because of his history he needs to go to an experienced Rottie (or similar breed) owner who can work with him and not allow him to be the dominant in the home. He just turned 3 the end of October. Rescue Me ID: 16-09-14-00349Izzy (female)

Rottweiler Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Izzy is a three year old Rottie (her birthday is 9/15). It's not gonna be a very happy birthday for this beauty since she finds herself in a shelter. Izzy was serving as a 'partial' therapy dog for a young child and she was amazing. Unfortunately she has a VERY high prey drive that got her into trouble. She has chased and gotten Rabbits, squirrels and most recently the neighbor's Yorkie which is why she ended up with us. None of them survived her. We also know that she can't be around cats. We believe she needs a home that will keep her contained when she is outside without supervision. We believe she would get along great with a dog ... (Read More)her own size if properly introduced. With her love for kids she would be a great family addition. She is housebroken, current on her shots, heartworm negative and micro-chipped. Her adoption fee is $125.00. She is ready to go home. She is very sad here at the shelter but we believe given the love of a family she will snap out of it fairly quickly. If you are interested in adopting Izzy we recommend you fill out an adoption application which you will find on our website at www.patriotsforpets.com - it is located under the Adoption tab. (Less)
